Where do the cutoffs come from?
Official JoSAA round-wise data from 2018 through 2025 — 8 years of trends across every IIT, NIT, IIIT and GFTI. We use the latest available round per institute and surface year-over-year trend on every seat.
How is the "desirability" of each seat calculated?
A transparent weighted formula: institute reputation (NIRF 2025 + placement medians + closing-rank calibration) combined with branch reputation (CSE / AI / ECE etc.), modified by your branch preferences (pref multiplier), and adjusted by a log-CR term for cross-institute comparison. Click any seat → "Why this position?" expands the full math.
How is the Safe / Moderate / Reach chance computed?
By comparing the seat's category-specific closing rank against your rank — separately for each quota (AI / HS / OS). Home-state seats are scored against the home-state pool, not an averaged one. Cutoff trend (tightening / loosening) feeds into the predicted next-round rank.
Do you support OBC-NCL / SC / ST / EWS quotas?
Yes — every category-specific closing rank is in the dataset. Choose your category in Step 1 and the chance label uses the category-aware CR for that quota.
